Fri, 17 November 2006 In this episode Mark and Bob tackle alternative energy. Since the advent of the eco-hippie during the 60's, they have relentlessly pursued program after program whose sole aim is to get our economy to stop using petroleum. Now hey are using the war against islamo-facism as a pretext for imposing their agenda. The oil-haters amongs us have latched on to ethanol as the heir apparent to "big oil." In an unholy alliance of interests, the Eco-fascists are teaming up with America's corn farmers to foist ethanol as the most viable alternative to oil. Bob and Mark discuss the various proposals and point out what is hype and what is promising. Just to prove that they are unbiased, this entire podcast was fueled by ethanol. Page 10 of the Democratic Party Platform mentions the use of switchgrass and other farm products to produce ethanol Chemical properties of ethanol Popular Mechanics has a really good article that compares the viability of various alternative energy sources Another good article about alternative energy from an engineering society This is a rundown from the Electronic Green Journal The Tesla Roadster- you've got to see this Obama's "Energy Security is National Security" podcast Brazil is not energy independent because of ethanol A comparison of various fuels with gasoline Pump problems with E85 Pigou Tax, A google search will turn up more links, but these will get you started: http://www.econlib.org/library/enc/bios/Pigou.html http://canadianeconoview.blogspot.com/2006/10/to-pigou-or-not-to-pigou-part-1-with.html http://gregmankiw.blogspot.com/2006/10/pigou-club-manifesto.html Links not mentioned in the show: http://wired.com/wired/archive/14.10/ethanol_pr.html http://wired.com/wired/archive/14.10/myths.html http://www.domesticfuel.com/ http://www.ethanol-gec.org/winter2000/winter0020.html http://www.heartland.org/Article.cfm?artId=17578 Comments[8] |
