Fri, 17 November 2006 In this episode Mark and Bob tackle alternative energy. Since the advent of the eco-hippie during the 60's, they have relentlessly pursued program after program whose sole aim is to get our economy to stop using petroleum. Now hey are using the war against islamo-facism as a pretext for imposing their agenda. The oil-haters amongs us have latched on to ethanol as the heir apparent to "big oil." In an unholy alliance of interests, the Eco-fascists are teaming up with America's corn farmers to foist ethanol as the most viable alternative to oil. Bob and Mark discuss the various proposals and point out what is hype and what is promising. Just to prove that they are unbiased, this entire podcast was fueled by ethanol. Page 10 of the Democratic Party Platform mentions the use of switchgrass and other farm products to produce ethanol Chemical properties of ethanol Popular Mechanics has a really good article that compares the viability of various alternative energy sources Another good article about alternative energy from an engineering society This is a rundown from the Electronic Green Journal The Tesla Roadster- you've got to see this Obama's "Energy Security is National Security" podcast Brazil is not energy independent because of ethanol A comparison of various fuels with gasoline Pump problems with E85 Pigou Tax, A google search will turn up more links, but these will get you started: http://www.econlib.org/library/enc/bios/Pigou.html http://canadianeconoview.blogspot.com/2006/10/to-pigou-or-not-to-pigou-part-1-with.html http://gregmankiw.blogspot.com/2006/10/pigou-club-manifesto.html Links not mentioned in the show: http://wired.com/wired/archive/14.10/ethanol_pr.html http://wired.com/wired/archive/14.10/myths.html http://www.domesticfuel.com/ http://www.ethanol-gec.org/winter2000/winter0020.html http://www.heartland.org/Article.cfm?artId=17578 Comments[8] |
Tue, 17 October 2006 Once again Mark and Bob throw caution to the wind by turning on the microphones and just talking. The conversation starts with the current North Korean nuclear situation and in a chain of tangents, end up rolling out their plan for the upcoming '06 Congressional elections. Bob gives a rather interesting theory regarding the causes of the situation in the Middle East that is, like always, a must hear. Mark would like to apologize for all the sniffs that made it into the show. He was fighting a head cold and sniffing had become unconcious and no amount of Herculean editting could remove it. Wed, 4 October 2006 The Hippie Killers experiment by just turning on the microphones and doing a bit of free-form conversation. They talk about: *Mark and Bob's disgust with the Republicans *Clinton's melt-down with Chris Wallace *Assigning blame for 911 is a waste of time *Capitalism is not really a system *Creating large voting blocks is just as corrupting of politics as Hippies think money is *Hippe revisionism not withstanding, the Iraq war was not just about WMDs *Breaking your enemy's will to fight is the only true path to victory *Hippies have no conception of how to handle physical force *Mark asks for help with video podcasting Comments[0] |
Wed, 20 September 2006 Progressives, especially the moonbats, are pretty loose when it comes to using the term fascist. Now they have worked themselves up because Bush has started to refer to our enemies as Islamofascists. We discuss the meaning of the label fascist and discuss how completely appropo the term Islamofascist really is. This show is chock full of the complete irreverance for hippie sacred cows that you have come to expect which turns a fairly dry topic into an informative and entertaining conversation. Wed, 9 August 2006 The progressives are in a wealthist lather over Republican attempts to repeal the Estate Tax. Bob and Mark use the arguments of one the internet's most popular progressives, Jack Clarke, to show how support for the Estate Tax is really nothing more than envy-fueled revenge. Far from actually serving its purported purpose of fairly redistributing wealth, the Estate Tax is actually a wealth destroyer, which serves only to increase the distribution of poverty. Mark also goes off on a quick diatribe about the concept of "giving back" in a pay-as-you-go society which shouldn't be missed. Wed, 26 July 2006 In this episode Bob and Mark discuss RFK's Rolling Stone Article where he riles the moonbats up with his conspiracy theory that the Republicans stole the 2004 election in Ohio for Bush. Well the Hippie Killers hail from Ohio and won't stand idly by and be a silent member of their grand conspiratorial fantasies. Wed, 19 July 2006 In this episode Bob and Mark respond to an audio clip made by Jay from Best of the Left Podcast. Jay and Mark had exchanged a few messages and Jay said that this clip lays out his rationale for supporting a progressive state. Naturally, THK does not agree and they go on to tell you why. Mark goes off on a few digressive expansions about the anthropology of groups and the Platonic Republic fallacy which he feels undergirds progressive assumptions about how the world works. Mark has also finally figured out how to use the software compressor better so this should be the best sounding episode yet. THK apologizes for rolling out this episode a little late. Mon, 26 June 2006 In this episode we discuss the hippies new attempt to shirk the negative connotations that they have created for the term Liberal by co-opting Libertarian. We also discuss another Jack Clarke clip, this one about how Bush's tax cuts are "stealing" from the poor. In our last segment we discuss a brief clip from the Cato Daily Podcast talking about Al Gore's new movie "An Inconvenient Truth." Mon, 12 June 2006 We discuss Jack Clark's, from Blast the Right, praise of Bolivia's decision to nationalize their Oil and Natural Gas reserves. Then our sites are turned on to the speech that United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Mark Malloch Brown made on 7JUN06. It's a short show, but there's alot of interesting ideas. Wed, 17 May 2006 Today we discuss the hippie conceptions of activism and compassion. Recently we found a locally produced hippie podcast. They attempt to take us to task for some off-handed remarks we made about how hippies use activism to force their morality on everyone. Naturally we applied THK ju-jitsu to their arguments and left them in a quivering lump of virgorously refuted gratuitous assertions. We extend the conversation by examining another clip that details what we believe to be the driving force behind alot of hippie "activism", the compulsion, borne out of uncontrolled empathy, to "do something" for those presumed to be less fortunate. Tue, 21 March 2006 In this episode we turn our sights on the latest example of rampant hippieism, Jay Bennish. We may not always address current events in the most timely fashion, but what we lack in speed we make up for in depth. Eschewing superficial analysis we bring you longer excerpts and discuss the issues. While most commentary has been directed at his Bush is like Hitler comments, or hippie indoctrination in the classroom, we focus mostly on his comments about terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Mon, 6 March 2006 Bob and Mark discuss a few different topics. Mark talks about his recent employment situation which has given him new insight into why Japanese companies, in America, have such a greater competitive advantage than their American counterparts. They also discuss the origins of the Dick Cheney was drunk meme that's been going around. Bob brings up an article by Paul Krugman about where the productivity increase has gone. This leads into a discussion about how statistics are used in a rhetorical manner in order to further the hippie agenda which can only be attributed to a conscious desire to deceive the public.

Tue, 21 February 2006 In episode nine we address the sine qua non of hippyism, reverence for the 60s. No one charactersistic better defines a hippie than their total fixation with this decade. We found a clip from an Ur-Hippie, Socialist Steve, who sets out a fairly common, to the point of cliche, argument for why the 60s where so great. Tue, 7 February 2006 Illegal immigration and border security have become controversial issues recently. In this episode The Hippie Killers discuss the issue and hopefully give listeners some new perspectives. The issue is a big one so it has been broken up into two parts. Tue, 10 January 2006 Today Bob and Mark discuss the Living Wage movement. Across the country Hippies have mobolised on a municipal level to pass Living Wage legislation. The Living Wage is basically a mimimum wage that is arbitrarily set to match what a single wage earner would need to earn in order to support a family of three or four at the poverty line. We excerpt a a fairly common argument for a living wage from Jack Clarke's podcast, Blast The Right. This show is a little long, because Mark once again over-researched, but is chock full information and the unique Hippie Killer commentary you've come to love. As you would expect, The Hippie Killers do not support a living wage, or minimum wage for that matter and they tell you why it's a bad idea and present alternative ideas if you absolutely must enlist the State to satisfy your urge to help the poor. Plus Bob goes on an anti-poor rant that you won't want to miss.

Mon, 5 December 2005 Recently I had a life changing experience that I just have to share. I was listening to hour two of the November 16th, 2005 episode of Free Talk Live. Ian, one of the hosts, posited that intellectual property rights are bad for consumers because they limit consumer choice thereby inflating the price of goods. Furthermore, I learned that these government created rights are used solely to enrich the rights holder at the expense of the product consumers. Needless to say I was floored, just as I am sure you are too, by this economic insight that I had never considered. This revelation has inspired me to create my own podcast in order to do my part in fostering consumer choice. We call it The Hippie Killers Talk Live and heres a link to a clip from our first show. Wed, 30 November 2005 We're back after a brief hiatus. We decide to talk about the Iraq war and end up making such a long show that we had to break it up into two parts. Bob and I hope you find our conversation as engaging as we obviously did. The Hippie Killers fully endorse the objectives of the WoT and believe that it's important not to lose sight of our goal during the Hippies' full-court press to discredit the Bush administration for political gain during the 2006 mid-term elections. Part One We thank some listeners Bob is Podcasting ignorant How the Hippies use Vietnam as a model Negative bias in Iraq reporting It's not really the Iraq War anymore, it's the Occupation of Iraq Hippies are only anti-war because they are anti-Bush Are combat deaths really worse than the deaths at the hands of a despot? If a government is a non-Hippie government is an illegitimate government Hippies doesn't like America to exercise its power Hippies are not ideological when they pick political leaders The terrorists are not guerillas Mark defends the Clinton administration for treating terrorism as a criminal matter Hippies are never going to quit until America is Socialist Bob posits a connection between Libertarian isolationism and Hippie pacifism We finally get back on topic, successes in Iraq and how the media mis-report them The insurgency is not a popular movement Bob clarifies what battalion readiness, as it applies to the Iraqi forces, means Mark has an interesting hypothesis about the biased Iraq reporting An exit strategy operates from the assumption of surrender Michael Goldfarb on Politics of Culture talking about the American failures in Iraq Whenever an empire collapses, in this instance the USSR, there is a reorganization of geopolitics Mark destroys the idea that it was a mistake to disband the Iraqi Army Regulars Mark goes off on Hippie intellectual conceit Appeasement is always the answer when Hippies are confronted by agressors Part two No conflict is like the preceding conflict Mark thinks that the Hippies really didn't stop the Vietnam War but Bob convinces him that they did Is an insurgency primarily composed of foreign nationals really an insurgency? American forces had to deal with the Werewolves in defeated German, should we have declared WWII unwinnable? Fortress America, no Battlefield America If the Iraqis pick another leader like Saddam we'll kick him out too There's never been a war between two free countries Hardcore Hippies are even whackier because of their marginalization Bob explains why the military as a whole is primarily staffed with minorities, but the combat arms are more reflective, demographically, of America Mark is a patriot al-Zarqawi is no Ho Chi Mihn Did the French Resistance blow up French schools and hospitals in their fight against the NAZIS?
