<itunes:subtitle>Giving you uppity hippies the verbal smackdown you deserve</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>The name pretty much says it all. We don't like hippies. Hippie assumptions go pretty much unchallenged in our society. Not anymore. Unlike other anti-hippies, not only do we make fun of them, we also try to undermine thier intellectual foundations. Our rhetoric is acerbic and inflammatory but also, we hope, edifying. It is our goal to be a gadfly to the body of unexamined hippie thought and hopefully awaken others to the inconsitency and the sheer lunacy of hippyism.</itunes:summary>

In this episode Bob and Mark discuss the movie "300." It caused quite a stir amongst the hippies who were so enmeshed in their anti-Bush rage that they actually saw it as an allegory for the Bush presidency. THK pokes fun at their hysteria and delve into just why the hippies have such a problem with this movie.

#26: The Working Poor

In this episode Bob and Mark revisit poverty. Many on the left have transformed the poor into the most sacrosanct segment of our society. Any honest criticism of the poor is dismissed with a wave of the "blaming the victim" rhetorical wand. They discuss the case of Brenda Kelly, just one of the many props that leftists trot in order to garner support for their anti-poverty programs. Bob and Mark refuse to be cowed by the "blame the victim" tactic and point out that the true "solution" is the re-introduction of personal responsibility. Most importantly, Bob and Mark announce that the show will be going live starting March 4, 2007 at 8:30pm EST. If you're interested in participating, email them at

TheHippieKillers@gmail.com.

Links

Brenda's Newspaper article (make sure you follow the multi-media link)
http://v2.charleston.net/assets/webPages/departmental/news/default_pf.aspx?NEWSID=130028

Dayton Daily News Article about Food Stamps
{subscriber only, article not really all that interesting}

Other links of interest:

Profile of the Working Poor, Bureau of Labor Statistics
http://www.bls.gov/cps/cpswp2003.pdf

Wikipedia article about the Working Poor
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_poor

A side-discussion about economic exploitation
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploitation

Point counter-point with Business Week and Thomas Sowell
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/04_22/b3885001_mz001.htm
http://www.jewishworldreview.com/cols/sowell060104.asp

Government links discussing measuring poverty
http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/07poverty.shtml
http://www.census.gov/hhes/poverty/povdef.html
http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/05fedreg.htm
http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/faq.shtml#differences
http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/poverty/threshld/thresh04.html

Link to the liveshow feed.
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/TheHippieKillers

Episode 24 Libertarianism v Libertinism: Which Head Will YOU Think With?

The tree of liberty is watered with the blood of patriots. The hedgerow of the libertine is watered with......... well you really don't want to know. In this episode Bob and Mark discuss the rather marked differences between libertarianism and libertinism. The distinction is fine because both share a common root, the desire to conduct one's life as one sees fit. Mark would like to let everyone know that Charles Morgan, not Murray, wrote "Liberties of the Mind." It's an obscure book, but you should be able to get it through your local library.

Links

Libertarian Does Not Equal Libertine, by Chuck George

Libertarianism and Libertinism?, Frank S.

Hugo Chavez won re-election to become the President of Venezuela. In this episode Bob and Mark discuss the effect that his presidency will ultimately have on this country. Little reported is how corrupt the Chavez regime is. Like all other populist movements before him, ultimately all that changes is that the corrupt class is replaced by a new "revolutionary" class that becomes just as corrupt. As usual progressives over-look the reality of what is ocurring choosing to be blinded by the dazzling vision of the State organized to help "the people." As progressives have been doing since the Bolsheviks, they cheerlead and cover up for dictatorial and corrupt regimes in order to keep the socialst faith. Being infidel's in the minds of socialist sangha, Bob and Mark take a look at what Chavez, and his fellow travellers, will ultimately do to the region and the poor that they are supposedly so concerned with helping. At 23 minutes in there is a discussion about the nature of poverty that is a MUST hear. In typical Hippie Killer fashion an objective discussion of poverty is given that will provide criteria to guides one's thinking when it comes to evaluating the various prescriptions put forth in an attempt to solve this problem.

Links:
Jack Clarke,Podcast 71, Even After a Thumpin', Bush Continues Appointing Right-Wing Extremists/QuickBlast: Chavez Landslide Victory In Venezuela

Corruption, Mismanagement, and Abuse of Power in Hugo ChÃvezâs Venezuela by Gustavo Coronel

Reversal of Fortune

Other links:

Tranparency International

Article about the Skye Ventures bond problem
http://www.nypost.com/seven/11212006/business/chavez_ducks_6_bill_business_paul_tharp.htm
http://www.petroleumworld.com/issues011806.htm

Episode 22- Rangel's Draft Proposal: Hell no we won't go

Since before the invasion of Iraq, Charles Rangel has been proposing a reinstatement of the draft. Ostensibly it's about "sharing" the burden of defending our country, but in reality it's really about grabbing headlines. Part of hippie folklore is that the military draws disproportionately from the poor and minorities. This buttresses their belief that if the privileged classes shared the burden, there would be no war in Iraq. Bob and Mark discuss this and show that it is patently false. America's armed forces are one of the few institutions that actually closely mirrors demographic characteristics of
the American population as a whole.

Links:
Stupid soldiers: Central to the Left's Worldview

Who Bears the Burden?

Who Are the Recruits?
Episode 18 Everybody's Talkin' about Fascism, Fascism

Progressives, especially the moonbats, are pretty loose when it comes to using the term fascist. Now they have worked themselves up because Bush has started to refer to our enemies as Islamofascists. We discuss the meaning of the label fascist and discuss how completely appropo the term Islamofascist really is. This show is chock full of the complete irreverance for hippie sacred cows that you have come to expect which turns a fairly dry topic into an informative and entertaining conversation. Be sure to follow the link below and check out the new 'blog that Bob has been working on.

Robert Paxton on NPR's Talk of the Nation

Cato Article

Reclaiming The Issues: Islamic Or Republican Fascism?
by Thom Hartmann

Harry Dexter White

The Venona Project

Fascism Anyone? by Laurence W.
The progressives are in a wealthist lather over Republican attempts to repeal the Estate Tax. Bob and Mark use the arguments of one the internet's most popular progressives, Jack Clarke, to show how support for the Estate Tax is really nothing more than envy-fueled revenge. Far from actually serving its purported purpose of fairly redistributing wealth, the Estate Tax is actually a wealth destroyer, which serves only to increase the distribution of poverty. Mark also goes off on a quick diatribe about the concept of "giving back" in a pay-as-you-go society which shouldn't be missed.

Links
Jack Clarke- #46 Attack on the Estate Tax: Right-Wing Lies and Greed in Plain Site

Estate Tax Spin

Repealing the Federal Estate Tax

Joint Economic Committee Study on the costs of the estate tax

Episode 11: The Passion of Jay Bennish

In this episode we turn our sights on the latest example of rampant hippieism, Jay Bennish. We may not always address current events in the most timely fashion, but what we lack in speed we make up for in depth. Eschewing superficial analysis we bring you longer excerpts and discuss the issues. While most commentary has been directed at his Bush is like Hitler comments, or hippie indoctrination in the classroom, we focus mostly on his comments about terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Like most hippie positions, they do not stand up to any amount of reasoned critique. So join us as we deconstruct another batch of addlepated hippie assertions.

Bob and Mark discuss a few different topics. Mark talks about his recent employment situation which has given him new insight into why Japanese companies, in America, have such a greater competitive advantage than their American counterparts. They also discuss the origins of the Dick Cheney was drunk meme that's been going around. Bob brings up an article by Paul Krugman about where the productivity increase has gone. This leads into a discussion about how statistics are used in a rhetorical manner in order to further the hippie agenda which can only be attributed to a conscious desire to deceive the public.

Links

Meme
"Was Cheney Drunk?", by Lawrence O'Donell
Arianna Huffington on the Cheney coverup
Lawrence O'Donell on Hugh Hewitt
Lawrence O'Donnel bio
Ted Kennedy and Chappaquiddick (in case you don't know already)
"Graduates vs. Oligarchs", by Paul Krugman
"The 25 Fat Years", by Pete DuPont
"Musky Income Myths",by Alan Reynolds
"Ignoring income inequalities", by Donald J.
Episode Nine: The 60s, Not Now, Not Ever

In episode nine we address the sine qua non of hippyism, reverence for the 60s. No one charactersistic better defines a hippie than their total fixation with this decade. We found a clip from an Ur-Hippie, Socialist Steve, who sets out a fairly common, to the point of cliche, argument for why the 60s where so great. Naturally we couldn't disagree more and end up turning a 5 minute clip into a full show. Join us as we do what we do best, hippie-bash.

In part two of episode eight Mark and Bob look at some more proposals for securing the border and curbing illegal immigration. These proposals include, Bush's Guest Worker program, calls for increasing development aid to Mexico, and changing the fourteenth amendment.
Episode Six: Screw the Poor

Today Bob and Mark discuss the Living Wage movement. Across the country Hippies have mobolised on a municipal level to pass Living Wage legislation. The Living Wage is basically a mimimum wage that is arbitrarily set to match what a single wage earner would need to earn in order to support a family of three or four at the poverty line. We excerpt a a fairly common argument for a living wage from Jack Clarke's podcast, Blast The Right. This show is a little long, because Mark once again over-researched, but is chock full information and the unique Hippie Killer commentary you've come to love. As you would expect, The Hippie Killers do not support a living wage, or minimum wage for that matter and they tell you why it's a bad idea and present alternative ideas if you absolutely must enlist the State to satisfy your urge to help the poor. Plus Bob goes on an anti-poor rant that you won't want to miss.

While on the road to Damascus, a Libertarian conversion

Recently I had a life changing experience that I just have to share. I was listening to hour two of the November 16th, 2005 episode of Free Talk Live. Ian, one of the hosts, posited that intellectual property rights are bad for consumers because they limit consumer choice thereby inflating the price of goods. Furthermore, I learned that these government created rights are used solely to enrich the rights holder at the expense of the product consumers.

Needless to say I was floored, just as I am sure you are too, by this economic insight that I had never considered. This revelation has inspired me to create my own podcast in order to do my part in fostering consumer choice.

We call it The Hippie Killers Talk Live and hereÃïïs a link to a clip from our first show. We hope you enjoy it.

Episode Three Hey Hey Ho Ho, Those Dirty Hippies Have Got to Go

We're back after a brief hiatus. We decide to talk about the Iraq war and end up making such a long show that we had to break it up into two parts. Bob and I hope you find our conversation as engaging as we obviously did. The Hippie Killers fully endorse the objectives of the WoT and believe that it's important not to lose sight of our goal during the Hippies' full-court press to discredit the Bush administration for political gain during the 2006 mid-term elections.

Part One
We thank some listeners
Bob is Podcasting ignorant
How the Hippies use Vietnam as a model
Negative bias in Iraq reporting
It's not really the Iraq War anymore, it's the Occupation of Iraq
Hippies are only anti-war because they are anti-Bush
Are combat deaths really worse than the deaths at the hands of a despot?
If a government is a non-Hippie government is an illegitimate government
Hippies doesn't like America to exercise its power
Hippies are not ideological when they pick political leaders
The terrorists are not guerillas
Mark defends the Clinton administration for treating terrorism as a criminal matter
Hippies are never going to quit until America is Socialist
Bob posits a connection between Libertarian isolationism and Hippie pacifism
We finally get back on topic, successes in Iraq and how the media mis-report them
The insurgency is not a popular movement
Bob clarifies what battalion readiness, as it applies to the Iraqi forces, means
Mark has an interesting hypothesis about the biased Iraq reporting
An exit strategy operates from the assumption of surrender
Michael Goldfarb on Politics of Culture talking about the American failures in Iraq
Whenever an empire collapses, in this instance the USSR, there is a reorganization of geopolitics
Mark destroys the idea that it was a mistake to disband the Iraqi Army Regulars
Mark goes off on Hippie intellectual conceit
Appeasement is always the answer when Hippies are confronted by agressors

Part two
No conflict is like the preceding conflict
Mark thinks that the Hippies really didn't stop the Vietnam War but Bob convinces him that they did
<a href="http://www.realclearpolitics.com/Commentary/com-11_18_05_RMR.html/>Roger Miniter "Iraq is Not Another Vietnam"
Is an insurgency primarily composed of foreign nationals really an insurgency?
American forces had to deal with the Werewolves in defeated German, should we have declared WWII unwinnable?
Fortress America, no Battlefield America
If the Iraqis pick another leader like Saddam we'll kick him out too
There's never been a war between two free countries
Hardcore Hippies are even whackier because of their marginalization
Bob explains why the military as a whole is primarily staffed with minorities, but the combat arms are more reflective, demographically, of America
Mark is a patriot
al-Zarqawi is no Ho Chi Mihn
Did the French Resistance blow up French schools and hospitals in their fight against the NAZIS?
Final thoughts

Judicial Activism, Words still have fixed meanings

Bob and I have decided to pull this episode. After much deliberation we have decided that this episode is not consistent with the vision we have for the show. While we still maintain the opinions we espoused, we believe that the way they were expressed (juvenile and crass) detracts from our message. This message is contentious enough and has no need for a "shock jock" style.

Thank You,
Mark

We're back with episode number two. In this episode we tackle an issue that is not only timely but near and dear to our hearts, judicial activism. This episode is more issue-centric than the last one. Try as we might, judicial activism is just not the humorous subject we thought it would be. That could also be because we didn't get nearly as drunk as we did in the last episode. We'll be perfectly honest with you folks, if you have no interest in the ongoing debate about judicial activism, you really should skip this episode. While Bob and I entertain ourselves immensely when we talk about this kind of stuff, we recognize that it can be torture for the uninterested. If you are interested give this episode a listen because we believe we have a unique viewpoint on the matter. Be sure to check in on the blog for further articles expounding on judicial activism. These will be posted as Bob and I find the time to write up our notes.

A.N.S.W.E.R. Is For Pussies

Thank You,
Mark

The Hippie Killers kick off with show number one. Our mission is to challenge the axioms of Hippie thought. We take the Hippie sacred cows and grind them into hamburger. It is our belief that just because their assumptions go unchallenged, that doesn't make them right. Hippies suck and we aren't shy about telling them why.
